How it started
Relocating to Germany assumes a kind of fluency that has nothing to do with the language. A letter arrives from the Finanzamt in dense administrative German, the deadline is buried somewhere in the middle of a paragraph, and what you are actually supposed to do next is stated nowhere at all. That gap is rarely about translation, since even fluent speakers run into it: the system assumes you already know how it works, and what's actually missing is not a feature but someone to say, clearly, what to do and in what order.
That gap, between official process and the information someone actually needs to act on it, was the starting point for the product. With two other developers and eight days to validate the idea, the brief was already clear before we wrote a line of code.
